iPhone Camera

I'm finding that the iPhone 4 can produce some pretty good images especially if you're careful about lighting and contrast - mind you not the serious type of photography one can accomplish with an SLR like my Pentax K-5 or K-r. But for those moments where you want to quickly capture a friend, family member or interesting scene - the iPhone's camera is very convenient and a snap to use. Having grown up in the Polaroid era, I see a strong analogy between the "instant" picture taking capabilities of my Dad's SX-70 and my current iPhone.

What makes the iPhone so much fun for me is that I'm able to instantly share my images with anyone, anywhere, anytime. Even better, with a cool app called PhotoCard by Bill Atkinson, I can easily create and order printed photo cards right on my phone that I can send to distant family members who are not net savvy or much prefer the joy of getting a very high quality 6x8" card in the mail.

So for instant "polaroids" from wherever I am or for illustrative purposes, when I don't have my SLR with me, I'll be using the iPhone camera to add images to my Posterous posts.
